Berlin Book 6 Over and Out, carries the characters in West Berlin to the end of the 1980s with the Iron Curtain and the Berlin Wall crumbling all around them.
As the communist world weakens, Lieutenant Sandy Spencer and Major Wade Bowden strengthen their feelings for one another in their very private lives. Unlike the Berlin Wall, both men realize the wall of the closet for gay soldiers shows no sign of weakening.
Sandy pledges to protect Wade’s real identity so he may one day make general. In his words, “I’m making it my mission to help you get to the top, and to do it, we really need to stay deep in the closet.”
Meanwhile as elements of the Iron Curtain threaten Sandy and his friends, keeping everyone safe becomes Capan Iceman’s biggest task.
Book 6 ends the journey with nearly ten years of characters coming together in a world made smaller by time, patience, love and patriotism.

Great read!
I highly recommend reading the entire series. The author was successful in keeping reader interested in the characters and their stories. Berlin during the Cold War years is a character on its own, especially for those of us who remember the times and know the city then and now.

An intimate story of the Berlin wall
This final book in the Berlin series was a great read. It provided a personalized account of an historic time just before, during and after the fall of the wall, through the eyes, hearts and actions of people, although fictional, yet very real. It was deeply moving in the final pages - yes there were tears! - as it progressed toward the climax. It was written with many twists and turns which keep the reader engaged and in suspense. Again, well done and kudos to author Jon Swank!

Consistently great!
Wonderful end to the whole series and sad that there is no more. I really look forward to more from this honest, open and touching author who I feel subtly conveys the realistic experiences of all of us who have had to face challenges in life. I feel that the author has certainly achieved his goal of tastefully approaching subject matter that is so often distorted as he states in the beginning of each book.. Thank-you Jon for months of looking forward to going to bed so that I can continue reading.

Great Series.
This is a well written series, although it should be read in its entirety as one builds on top of the other. The narrative is real enough to be believed and makes sense, I had no idea of this author or this series and started it by chance and the brief description, well worth your time.....

Berlin 6 wraps it up and ties the bow
This is the last book in the Berlin series by Jon Swank and in my opinion the perfect completion of the story line. Once you have finished reading book 6, you can see the complete outline of all the books culminate here. This book has the continuation of the love story between Sandy (Air Force) and Wade (Army). We have belligerent Army personnel who force Sandy off the team just as a kidnapping occurs and everyone goes on high alert. A well-liked character is killed. A defector is rescued. Evil characters from earlier books reappear for a final swipe at the protagonists.
There is a great deal happening in this book. As the backbone of this book our characters still struggle with being gay in the military of the 1980's culture. I found I couldn't put it down and read until the early hours of the morning because it so engaged me.
The author has perfectly captured the emotions of Berlin and its people at the end of the 1980's in this fast paced final book. I can hear President Reagan in my mind saying "Mr. Gorbachev, take down this wall!" It has all the suspense of the other five, a love story, family values and great story line. Don't miss this one. It is well worth your time and effort.
